This latest report in our flagship series contains statistical data, information and insight into the textile and apparel industries in Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam. The report presents a wealth of information, and is essential for anyone who is considering sourcing from, selling to or investing in these countries or their export markets. In particular, the report includes detailed information on domestic production, textile and clothing exports by type and destination, and clothing retail sales. Also, it provides analyses of developments in the South-East Asia region and government measures relating to the countries featured. The report notes that textile and clothing exports from Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam all rose in 2022. In Cambodia, sales to the US market increased and there was a surge in sales to the EU market. Elsewhere, there were sharp increases in sales of Indonesian textiles and clothing to the US and the EU markets and increases in domestic sales of clothing at the retail level in Indonesia. Also, there were increases in sales of Malaysian textiles and clothing to the US market and the EU market, and textile production and clothing production in Malaysia were both up. In Myanmar, there were increases in exports to several of the country's major markets, including Canada, the EU, Japan, Malaysia, South Korea, Turkey and the UK--although there were declines in exports to China, Russia and Thailand. There were increases in exports from Thailand to most of the country's major markets, including the EU, India, Japan, the USA and Asean countries, although there was a decline in exports to China. Also, textile production in Thailand inched up after declines in 2021 and 2022 but clothing production declined for the third consecutive year. In Vietnam, there were significant rises in sales to the EU market, the South Korean market and the US market, and textile production and clothing production both increased.
