Significant Data Management Announcements in January 2021

This IDC Market Note discusses five significant announcements made in early 2021, four of which are specific to the database technology markets and one is more general. These announcements point to maturation and consolidation of IT (in the cloud) in general, and the database businesses in particular, and suggest a move toward practical alignments that address the needs of IT users going forward."The combination of these events reflects a maturation of the data management space, as well as consolidation," says Carl Olofson, research vice president for Data Management Software Research at IDC.
