Cisco has taken the top spot on the thematic screen of GlobalData’s IT infrastructure sector scorecard. It jumped up from third place last quarter, overtaking previous leaders Microsoft and Amazon in the process.

Cisco’s rise is largely due to changes to Microsoft and Amazon’s scores in the geopolitics theme. Both have been downgraded since Q2 2023, with Microsoft’s score dropping to 3 out of 5 from 4 out of 5 and Amazon’s dropping from 1 out of 5 from 4 out of 5. The change in Amazon’s geopolitics score meant it was also overtaken on the thematic screen by HPE, which moved from fifth place last quarter to third in Q3 2023.
