Summary
A complete overview of the technology sector across the EMEA region. The report includes market insight and sector and brand analysis.
Electronic Arts (EA) is the most active brand from the sector with 47 partnerships in 2023, thanks to partnerships with significant organizations and teams including the Premier League, LaLiga and NHL.
Sponsorship values for EA are approximately $113.84 million annually, and $457.9 million over their durations.
Despite the greater volume of deals, EA’s sponsorship agreements only amount to 9.26 percent of the spend within the technology sponsorship sector in EMEA, but they dominate 26.34 percent of total EMEA sponsorship value within the soccer market. Soccer remains the most attractive sport to sponsor for technology brands within EMEA, given its sizable popularity and growing profile globally.
Despite that, the total value of soccer deals generated $376.5 million in annual sponsorship value, with the soccer market accumulating 336 deals.
1&1’s front-of-shirt sponsorship with German soccer club, Borussia Dortmund, is the highest value deal within soccer at $30 million annually. EA sport’s deal with the English Premier League falls just behind at $28.75 million, as per GlobalData. 223 of these active deals are from brands who are headquartered in EMEA regions, indicating that much of the sponsorship in the region comes from brands closer to home, but a large portion also comes from the USA.
The majority of these deals stem from the USA, but the brands headquartered in the United Kingdom generated the most annual sponsorship value of all EMEA based brands.
Additionally, 98 of the deals included in this analysis are global deals, which are active in EMEA as well as all other regions, and these account for some of the most sizable deals.
